In 2021, Courtney Love selected the artwork ''Semper Ardebit'', had it animated to feature as the ending to her new video series of covers. In Bruises for Roses, Courtney covers an eclectic mix of artists ranging from Simon & Garfunkel to Elliott Smith.
For the video serie, Courtney Love worked with British musician Juliette Jackson of the indie-rock group Big Moon. The intimate jam session between the two artists morphed into Bruises of Roses, a series in which Courtney covers a handful of her favorite songs. The video serie premiered on Vogue.com
The artwork ''Semper Ardebit'', is inspired by a Latin phrase meaning ''always burning''. It is an artwork inspired by illuminated manuscripts from medieval times and by the classic imagery of sacred hearts. The artwork has been animated and can be seen at the end of the video.
